ReFuel Helps Turn Organic Waste Into Clean, Sustainable Fuel

Do you have organic waste on your hands? Don’t let it sit in a landfill releasing harmful methane gas into the atmosphere. ReFuel Energy Partners wants to help your company fight climate change by transforming your waste into a fuel source.

How Organic Waste Becomes Natural Gas

The Sacramento BioDigester transforms waste of all sorts into fuel. The microorganisms in the digester get busy breaking down the biodegradable organic material to produce gas. This gas includes methane, carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of a few other gases. The gas is then cleaned up and compressed for use in natural gas vehicle (NGV) engines.

About The Sacramento BioDigester

The digester in Sacramento was the first of its kind in North America. This technology was invented by a UC Davis professor, Dr. Ruihong Zhang. The anaerobic digester eliminates 100% of greenhouse gas emissions from landfill food waste, producing fuel that can replace hundreds of thousands of gallons of fossil fuels annually. Even the by-products of our production process are recycled! Tail-gas is generated when Methane (CH4) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) are separated. That tail-gas is used as a low-BTU fuel to produce power to offset the electrical usage of the entire facility.
